Student run record label Five of Five Music Entertainment (VVME) has just launched their search for their 2014 – 2015 “Artist-of-the-Year”.
California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is responding to the demands of an evolving music industry by empowering a workforce of aspiring industry leaders enrolled in the Music Industry Studies program to seek out and elevate a developing artist to the next step in their career. Through VVME, Music Industry Studies students apply their industry knowledge and gain valuable hands-on industry experience, while their expertise in A&R, record production, event management, and marketing significantly benefit their artist’s developing career.
Once the “Artist-of-the-Year” is selected, students begin byflourishingthe artist’sonline presence by further evolving the artist’s website and social media. They work to increase the artist’s local following with physical marketing and provincial event planning. Subsequently, the artist is taken to a professional studio to have their music recorded.
Then an EP release show is produced to celebrate the official release of the artist’s music. The recorded EP, along with a press kit, is then marketed to music stores and online retailers. The vast array of services offered to the “Artist-of-the-Year” is a unique one that comes from a large team of multi-talented college students who are driven by their passion for music.
“From years of playing in touring bands and knowing the hardships they face, I can honestly say that this is an amazing opportunity for artists to give them that extra push they’ve been looking for and needing. I wish I would have known about VVME when I was still playing in a band. We are all very excited about this year and helping our ‘Artist-of-the-Year’ elevate their career to the next level.”- Robbie English, Co-Executive Producer VVME
