In a country where there are many excellent DJ’s, it is not easy to distinguish yourself. So how has DJ SKT managed to do so?
DJ SKT a young DJ from London, England has worked hard to attain the achievements he has accumulated. He started DJing at a young age and was already entering major contests by the time he reached the age of 18.
For example, he competed in the “Technics DMC under 18’s battle” in which he came 4th in the country. He also entered the “Radio 1 search for a DJ” (under 18’s) in which he came 6th in the country.
His hard work has been paying off. His 2009 tune “Everything You Do” was signed to AATW/Universal Music and his tune “Worst of Love” was featured on “Street Nation” by Universal that entered the national compilation charts at No.2, going on to sell over 100,000 copies.
So far, DJ SKT has had roughly 14 independent UK-wide releases that have received airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra (& sales chart positions), Kiss 100, Choice FM, Capital FM, Rinse, Bang Radio, BBC Manchester, Galaxy FM plus many pirates across the country.
He has also been featured in DJ Magazine where they said “it surely wont be long until DJ SKT crosses over (into the mainstream)” as well as in RWD Magazine where they described him as being “a rising star”.
His recent EP, The Revolution, is a nice mix of UK Garage, Deep House, Tech and Bass. Songs like Raveties from the EP have already been getting airplay on the major stations like Kiss 100 and is now available for purchase. DJ SKT is also the C.E.O. of Up-Tempo Records, an independent dance music label established in 2009. They manage all aspects of their label in-house including mastering and promotion.
