Seattle’s blossoming indie folk scene has a new voice.
City Bear is the pseudonym of ex-Church For Sinners front man, Andy Wylie. His music is a combination of roots music and modern indie pop that pays tribute to the sounds and styles that came before, without falling into the retro trap.
The debut album, Mournography, is an 11 track introduction to a new voice in the Seattle scene that is already gaining attention across the country, strictly by word of mouth. The album contains music influenced by early country, folk, pop, rock, blues and jazz, but maintains a clear vision and unique sound.
With heart on the sleeve lyrics and warm instrumentation, Mournography is sure to connect with everyone from punks to old time pickers and everyone in between.
The self released album was produced by Dead Man’s Tale multi-instrumentalist, Brent Wilkinson, and contains guest appearances by local legend, James Hunnicutt. Fans of The Avett Brothers, Elliott Smith, and Smoking Popes will love City Bear’s heartfelt brand of melodic folk rock.
